Heat pump for 365 days of swimming enjoyment
While heat pumps may now be the standard in the swimming pool industry, every unit ultimately has its limits. For traditional swimming pool heat pumps, that limit is somewhere around an outside temperature of 15°C. If it’s colder than that, the units often fail to heat the water sufficiently. This is a disappointment for anyone who wants to enjoy their pool sustainably for nine or even twelve months. Refrigeration technician Kurt Munghen felt the same way, which is why he looked to the HVAC industry for a solution.

Big foot and hot water: a breeze
ROESELARE – The water features at the Thermen R wellness center in Roeselare are heated by five Digipool® units, spaced seven meters apart. The units are installed in a confined space. To ensure they are securely anchored, a strong yet user- and maintenance-friendly Big Foot Systems frame, supplied by Linum Europe, was used. The entire installation weighs approximately 700 kilograms.

Sauna Leeghof fights energy crisis with additional solar panels, heat pumps and solar water heater
BOEKHOUTE – For nearly a year now, Tom Ragaert (35) and Andy V.B. (38) have been the proud owners of the Leeghof private sauna on Graafjanstraat in Boekhoute. When, as operators of a wellness center, they were faced with sky-high energy bills, they decided to make a change and resolutely embraced sustainability. “On sunny days, we’re completely energy-independent,” they say enthusiastically.

And so, concrete steps were taken toward sustainability. To keep costs under control, the owners installed not only 252 solar panels but also five innovative heat pumps, designed by the Maldegem-based company FEA International.

Luc De Bruyn and his wife Nelly have been running the luxury bed and breakfast Maison Seki in Knokke-Heist for six years. Although the charming house has only three rooms, rave reviews are piling up on websites such as Booking and TripAdvisor. This success is due to the impeccable hospitality and service, but the pool also plays a prominent role in the reviews. Even in the winter, guests enjoy a pleasant water temperature of 31 °C.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT VIA WATTR
Wattr is kicking off the new year by adding Digipool to its list of compatible devices. Aquacultuur naar een hoger niveau met de eerste Digipool Nerthus 🌊
Bij EcoTapes Zeeland werd recent een proefproject opgestart met de allereerste Nerthus: een krachtige en duurzame verwarmingsoplossing, specifiek ontwikkeld voor aquacultuur. Binnen dit project focust EcoTapes Zeeland zich op de kweek van Tapijtschelpen. In zo’n omgeving is een stabiele, efficiënte en slim aangestuurde waterverwarming van grote waarde. Voor deze kweek wordt gebruikgemaakt van zeewater uit de Oosterschelde. Daardoor ligt de energievraag in de winter extra hoog, door de lage watertemperatuur van het inkomende water. Met deze installatie tonen we dat duurzaam verwarmen in aquacultuur niet alleen mogelijk is, maar ook een duidelijke meerwaarde creëert op het vlak van energieverbruik, stabiliteit en controle. Waar klassieke oplossingen zoals elektrische heaters of monoblock-warmtepompen bij gemiddelde wintertemperaturen vaak blijven steken op een COP van 2 tot 2,5, haalt de Nerthus een minimale COP van 6 bij 7°C buitentemperatuur. Dat betekent een bijzonder hoog rendement en een aanzienlijk lager stroomverbruik voor de klant ⚡ De kracht van deze oplossing zit bovendien niet alleen in de prestaties, maar ook in de technologie erachter. De Nerthus is namelijk gebaseerd op onze bewezen Digipool Aries-oplossingen: systemen die al jarenlang zwembadwater 365 dagen per jaar verwarmen, zelfs bij buitentemperaturen tot -10°C. Diezelfde robuuste basis, betrouwbaarheid en performantie hebben we nu succesvol vertaald naar een toepassing binnen de aquacultuursector. Dat maakt van de Nerthus veel meer dan een klassiek verwarmingssysteem. Het is een sterke, intelligente machine, gebouwd om ook onder uitdagende omstandigheden constant en efficiënt te presteren 💪 Bovendien verwarmen we niet alleen het water. Dankzij een meetmodule op het inkomende water verzamelen we continu data en meten we verschillende parameters van het zeewater, zoals temperaturen en aanvoerdebieten. Zo ontstaat een slim totaalconcept waarin we niet alleen verwarmen, maar ook regelen, monitoren, analyseren en optimaliseren 📊 Het resultaat is duidelijk: minder energieverbruik, een veel constantere regeling zonder pieken en dalen, en volledige opvolging via ons IoT-systeem, waarbij alle prestaties nauwkeurig worden gelogd.
